I bring you greetings On behalf of the organizing team for the Adolescent and Youth Pre- Consultations of 2016-30 UN Secretary  General's Strategy on Women's Children and Adolescents Health, 

I would like to brig to your attention that, the African Youth and Adolescents Network on Population and Development (AfriYAN) in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) will host an Adolescents and Youth Pre-consultation on the 5th of May 2015 in an effort to generate consensus on the priority issues and recommendations for adolescents and young people in the 2016-2030 UN Secretary General’s Revised Global Strategy, on Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health.

The meeting will build on the revised Global Strategy’s additional focus on adolescents’ health, in acknowledgment of the importance of adolescents and youth health for sustainable health outcomes. The Adolescents and Youth Pre-consultation will also reflect on the ongoing conversations and negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda in positioning adolescent and youth health within broader development targets.

As part of the activities for the Adolescent and Youth Pre-consultations, there will be a Youth Chill-Out Session with Global Health Leaders

The Youth Chill- Out Session is Scheduled for Date: Tuesday 5th May 2015, Time: 17:30 – 18:30, South Africa Time.

The topic of the Youth Chill out session is: Adolescents, Youth, Health and the next 15 years’

This will be a 1 hour moderated online, live session that will feature a panel of four global health experts and leaders in adolescent and youth health programming and two youth health activists and advocates.

Purpose: The hangout session will discuss challenges and opportunities in strengthening adolescents and youth health in the next 15 years reflecting on the ongoing Post 2015 development framework negotiations and the consultation processes of the new Global Strategy for Women’s Children’s and Adolescents’ Health.

The chill-out session is also aimed at strengthening global conversations both online and offline to effectively bridge the gap between grassroots youth action and international commitments focusing on improving the health and well-being of adolescents.

The youth chill out session will be a physical meeting with discussions between youth participants of the Adolescent and Youth Pre- Consultation and global leader who will comprise the panel. Discussion at the chill-out will be streamed live on Google+ and YouTube and there will be live feeds on other social-media platforms like twitter and facebook for young people in the virtual audience to share their views and opinions and ask questions.
